Alliance of Science Organizations

The Alliance of Science Organizations (partly also the Alliance of German Science Organizations ) is an amalgamation of important German science organizations.

The alliance publishes statements on research policy topics at irregular intervals . The statements are available on the Internet, in each case on the website of the leading organization. In mid-2008, the priority initiative “ Digital Information ” was launched, which aims to create an integrated digital research environment. The focus should be on improving the information infrastructure with regard to Open Access , national licenses, legal framework conditions and primary research data. In 2016, the alliance launched the information initiative “ Understanding Animal Experiments ”, which is intended to provide the public and the media with comprehensive information on the content and framework conditions of current research and to contribute to an objective discussion on animal experiments.

The organizational lead at Allianz changes every year to a different member organization.

Publications

Between the end of 2010 and mid-2013, the alliance published a series of brochures on the subject areas of the High-Tech Strategy 2020 formulated by the BMBF , namely the "five major areas of need: climate and energy, health and nutrition, mobility, security and communication".

Academic Freedom Campaign

To mark the entry into force of the Basic Law 70 years ago, the Alliance of Scientific Organizations 2019 advertises in a joint campaign for academic freedom under the title "Freedom is our system. Together for Science ”in a series of events, speeches, debates and opinion pieces for the independent way of working in research and teaching and for critically examining one's own system and warning of global dangers for academic freedom. The alliance campaign, initiated by the Max Planck Society , is intended to set an example for freedom in research and teaching against restrictions and influence. The closing event is on September 26, 2019 in the Futurium in Berlin.
