Allium platakisii is a species of the genus allium ( Allium ) in the subfamily of the leek plants (Allioideae).

features

Allium platakisii is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of up to 30 centimeters. This geophyte forms onions as persistent organs. The leaves enclose a third to half of the stem and are 2.5 to 5 millimeters wide.

The larger bract is 50 to 60 millimeters in size. The umbellate inflorescence contains 25 to 35 flowers. The flower stalks are about 10 millimeters long. The flowers are bulbous. The bracts are 6 to 7 millimeters in size, colored white and have a pink central nerve.

The flowering period extends from September to October.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Occurrence

Allium platakisii is on the small rocky island Pontikonisi , located off the northwest coast of Crete in the regional district of Chania , endemic . The species grows in crevices in the rock.
