Alma Bacciarini

Alma Bacciarini (born March 30, 1921 in Cabbio ; † January 22, 2007 in Lugano ; resident in Cureggia ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ). In 1979 she was the first woman from Ticino to be elected to the National Council.

education and profession

Bacciarini attended the grammar school in Biasca and the teachers' college in Locarno . Finally, she studied French and Italian literature at the University of Zurich , where she in 1943 with the Licentiate completed. She then worked as a middle school teacher.

politics

Bacciarini was Vice President of the Swiss Association for Women's Suffrage from 1954 to 1963 . From 1976 to 1992 she was a member of the Federal Commission for Women's Issues . From 1992 to 1995 she chaired the Association of Ticino Women's Associations.

From 1972 to 1980 she was a member of the municipal council of Breganzona , from 1975 to 1991 the Grand Council of the Canton of Ticino and from 1979 to 1983, the first woman from Ticino to be a member of the National Council.

Further commitment

Bacciarini was active in various other clubs. Among other things, she was President of the Archaeological Association of the Canton of Ticino from 1990 to 1993.
