Almagro , the old capital of Campo de Calatrava, a comarca , is about halfway between Madrid and Córdoba, 25 km east-southeast of Ciudad Real . It belongs to the Spanish province of Ciudad Real in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha .
Almagro is on the Autovia del IV Centenario .

Military airfield
Outside the town in the northern area of Caserio El Campazo there is a smaller military airfield of the Spanish Army Aviation ( Fuerzas Aeromóviles del Ejército de Tierra , FAMET), the base Almagro . Almagro is the home base of the Spanish Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopters of the Batallón de Helicópteros de Ataque núm. I (BHELA I).
