description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe austroarabica grows without a trunk, is solitary or rarely divides into two to three rosettes . The 20 to 25 spread or ascending, lanceolate, pointed leaves form rosettes . The green leaf blade is 50 to 60 inches long, 12 inches wide and 7 to 12 millimeters thick. The white, triangular teeth on the white, cartilaginous leaf margin are 3 millimeters long and 18 to 25 millimeters apart. The leaf juice is orange in color. It dries yellowish brown.

Inflorescences and flowers

One or two inflorescences with three to six racemes that reach a length of up to 145 centimeters are formed at the same time . The rather dense, cylindrically pointed grapes are up to 55 centimeters long. The egg-shaped, pointed, fine-fluffy bracts have a length of 10 to 14 millimeters and are 5 to 8 millimeters wide. The boat-shaped, yellow, broadly green-striped flowers , rarely dark pink, are on green or pink-colored, 7 to 10 millimeter long peduncles . The flowers are 30 to 34 millimeters long. At the level of the ovary , the flowers are 6 to 8 millimeters in diameter. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 20 to 25 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus protrude 5 millimeters from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe austroarabica is common in the north of Yemen and in the south of Saudi Arabia on dry rocks at altitudes of about 1100 meters.

The first description by Thomas A. McCoy and John Jacob Lavranos was published in 2003.
