Vegetative characteristics

Aloe bruynsii grows trunk-forming, branches out from the base and forms groups with a diameter of up to 30 centimeters. The upright to prostrate trunks reach a length of up to 20 centimeters and are 7 to 9 millimeters thick. The 18 to 28 spread-back, lanceolate-sickle-shaped leaves form dense rosettes . The lime green to reddish leaf blade is 16 inches long and 2 inches wide. The fixed teeth on the leaf margin are 1 millimeter long and 3 to 7 millimeters apart. The leaf sap is pale green. It dries colorless.

Inflorescences and flowers

The usually simple inflorescence , only rarely a branch is formed, reaches a length of 15 to 30 centimeters. The rather loose, heady grapes are up to 5 centimeters long. The pale brown, lanceolate bracts have a length of about 5 millimeters and are 1 millimeter wide. The pale orange or lemon yellow flowers at their base are yellowish to greenish at the mouth above. They stand on 10 to 20 millimeter long flower stalks . The flowers are 19 to 20 millimeters long. At the level of the ovary , the flowers have a diameter of 5 millimeters. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of about 15 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus barely protrude from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe bruynsii is widespread in Madagascar on gneiss slopes at heights of 400 to 600 meters.

The first description by Paul Irwin Forster was published in 2003.
