description
Vegetative characteristics
Aloe viguieri grows stemless or stem-forming, is simple or branching and then forms small groups. Lying trunks can reach a length of up to 30 centimeters, while hanging trunks are up to 1 meter long. The twelve to 16 lanceolate, narrowed leaves form dense rosettes . Dead leaves are persistent on the stems. The light green, lined leaf blade is about 30 to 40 inches long and 8 to 9 inches wide. The cartilaginous, white leaf margin is 1 millimeter wide. The solid white teeth on the leaf edge are 0.5 to 1 millimeter long and 1 to 2 millimeters apart.
Inflorescences and flowers
The simple inflorescence reaches a length of about 45 centimeters. The loose, cylindrical grapes are 20 to 25 centimeters long and consist of about 22 flowers. The egg-shaped-pointed bracts have a length of 1.5 millimeters. The scarlet, slightly club-like flowers are on 11 millimeter long peduncles . The flowers are 22 millimeters long and briefly narrowed at their base. At the level of the ovary , the flowers have a diameter of 4 millimeters. They are expanded beyond that. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 11 millimeters. The stamens and the pen stand out 1 to 2 millimeters from the flower.
Systematics and distribution
Aloe viguieri is common in Madagascar on limestone slopes and cliffs at heights of 60 to 350 meters.
The first description by Henri Perrier de La Bâthie was published in 1927.
