Alois Kraemer

Alois Kraemer (born January 7, 1899 in Föckelberg ; † December 1, 1983 ) was a German print shop owner and politician. After the Second World War , he was the first Lord Mayor of the city of Landau in the Palatinate from 1946 to 1964 .

On September 22nd, 1946 the council of the city of Landau in the Palatinate met. Kraemer was proposed by the CDU faction leader as the only applicant for the post of mayor. The election was made with 22 votes in favor and two abstentions. In the 1950s he was challenged by the young Helmut Kohl in elections for the CDU district executive , who was able to successfully prevail against the Landau mayor. “For Kohl it was a risky undertaking, but it was a calculated risk, because his opponent corresponded to the 'enemy' of Kohl and his friends, was 'obeyed to the church'. Honors

  • When Alois Kraemer resigned from his office as Lord Mayor of the city of Landau id Pfalz on January 31, 1964 because he had reached the age limit, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.
