Alois Schroll

Alois Schroll (born March 13, 1968 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). Since 2014 he has been the mayor of the municipality of Ybbs an der Donau , and has been a member of the National Council since October 23, 2019 .

Life

After attending elementary and secondary school in Ybbs an der Donau in 1983, Alois Schroll began an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer and electrical engineer, which he completed in 1987. He then did military service . From 1991 he attended the foreman school at the HTL St. Pölten , which concluded with the master craftsman's examination.

From 1989 to 2004 he worked as a mechanical engineer and electrical engineer in the Ybbs-Persenbeug power plant at Verbund AG , where he was also a project manager in 2009/10. From 2004 to 2007 he was the press spokesman of the SPÖ Lower Austria in the office of the state government, assigned to state councilor Christa Kranzl , then until 2009 press officer in the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology under State Secretary Christa Kranzl. From 2010 to 2012 he was project manager at Alpine-Energie , from 2012 he worked in the events and culture area of ​​the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Lower Austria .

Schroll has a daughter. Since 1997 he has been a volunteer at the Austrian Red Cross in the Ybbs district office.

Schroll was a sports advisor on the local council in Ybbs an der Donau for fifteen years . In 2010 he became deputy city party chairman of the SPÖ Ybbs an der Donau, in the Melk district he became deputy SPÖ district party chairman in 2012. In February 2014 he was elected mayor of the municipality of Ybbs an der Donau as the successor to Anton Sirlinger, who resigned from his post after 19 years. Schroll is a board member of the Association of Municipal Representatives of Lower Austria and since 2017 chairman of the Association of Municipal Representatives in the Melk district and a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Lower Austria .

In the 2019 National Council election, he ran for the SPÖ as a top candidate in the Mostviertel regional constituency and in seventh place in the Lower Austrian constituency . On October 23, 2019, at the beginning of the XXVII. Legislative period sworn in as a member of the Austrian National Council . In the SPÖ parliamentary club , he acts as the area spokesman for energy in the 27th legislative period. In the 2020 municipal council elections, the SPÖ in Ybbs retained an absolute majority and thus SP Mayor Schroll remained in office for another five years.
