Alois Wuehrer

Alois Wührer (born September 4, 1906 in Kirchdorf am Inn , † November 22, 1981 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1953 to 1966 he was a member of the Austrian National Council and mayor of Kirchdorf am Inn.

education and profession

After primary school, Wührer attended commercial school and from 1923 to 1925 he graduated from the Ritzlhof agricultural school. He attended dairy farming courses at the dairy school in Wolfpassing and worked as a dairy manager in Mauerkirchen and Geinberg . Between 1926 and 1929 he was an intern on the farm of the Danish President of Agriculture and from 1929 to 1943 he was head of the dairy cooperative Eferding . He had previously taken over his parents' farm in 1941. From 1948 to 1979 he was chairman of the Geinberg dairy cooperative, from 1948 to 1979 member of the board of the Schärdinger dairy association and from 1955 to 1981 member of the board of the Raiffeisenverband Oberösterreich. He was also a member of the management board and most recently chairman of the supervisory board of Volksbank Altheim.

Wührer joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1938 . The historian Michael Wladika suspects that Wührer was “illegal” because of his membership number 6,301,188 . After the Second World War, Wührer was involved as district chairman of the ÖVP farmers 'union in Obernberg am Inn from 1948 to 1950 and was chairman of the Ried im Innkreis farmers' chamber from 1949 to 1953 . He held the office of mayor of Kirchdorf am Inn from October 23, 1955 to October 21, 1973 and was a member of the National Council from March 18, 1953 to March 30, 1966. Furthermore, from 1960 to 1973 he again held the office of district chairman of the ÖVP farmers' union in Obernberg am Inn.
