Alojz Tkáč (born March 2, 1934 in Ohradzany , Okres Humenné , Slovakia ) is retired Archbishop of Košice .

Life

Alojz Tkáč was ordained a priest on June 25, 1961 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Košice diocese .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Košice on February 14, 1990. The episcopal ordination donated him to the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Cardinal Jozef Tomko , the same year on March 17; Co- consecrators were Ján Sokol , Archbishop of Trnava , and Ján Chryzostom Korec SJ , Bishop of Nitra .

With the elevation to the archbishopric on March 31, 1995 he was appointed Archbishop of Košice. On June 4, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation.
