Ohradzany (Hungarian Göröginye ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 639 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Humenné of, a circle kraj Prešovský heard. It is part of the traditional Zemplín landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Low Beskids , more precisely in the Ondavská vrchovina mountainous region , in the Ondavka valley (also Ondavica ). The town center is at an altitude of 171 m nm and is ten kilometers from Humenné .
Neighboring municipalities are Baškovce in the north, Sopkovce in the east, Slovenská Volová in the south, Karná in the south-west and Víťazovce in the north-west.
history
Ohradzany was first mentioned in writing in 1317 as Geregynne . It belonged to the Humenné estate; in the 17th century the village was owned by the Csáky family . In 1557 there were eight and a half portals in the village . Regular Saturday markets were held in Ohradzany until 1787. In the 19th century, families like Mariássy and Andrássy owned estates in the village. In 1828 there were 76 houses and 571 inhabitants who were employed as foresters and farmers. The first school was built in 1886.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1940 a fire broke out that damaged two thirds of the town.

According to the 2011 census, Ohradzany had 640 inhabitants, including 625 Slovaks , five Russians and four Czechs . Six residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
607 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 19 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, four residents to the Orthodox Church and two residents to the Pentecostal movement. One resident was non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for seven residents.
