Modra nad Cirochou (to 1978 Slovak "Modra"; Hungarian Modra ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 995 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Humenné of, a circle Prešovský kraj belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the valley of the Cirocha River at the foot of the Vihorlat Mountains at an altitude of 210 m nm , 11 kilometers from Snina and 12 kilometers from Humenné .
history
The place was founded at the beginning of the 14th century and mentioned in writing for the first time in 1333, but in the 11th and 12th centuries there was a castle in the Kaštieľ area . For a long time Modra belonged to the estate of the Drugeth family . In 1828 there are 72 houses and 530 inhabitants.
