The Alp Grüm is a known mainly by its Bahnhofsiedlung in the municipality Poschiavo in the canton of Grisons in Switzerland .
Below the Pru dal Vent on the edge of the first slope of the Poschiavo is the settlement that emerged from a Maiensäss , whose train station is at an altitude of 2091 m above sea level. M. lies. The current station building, at the same time buffet and hotel, was opened in 1926.
The settlement, which is not connected to the road network, can be reached by train all year round. The mule track that opens up the settlement is only passable in summer and is closed to motorized traffic.
Rail transport
The place is also a stop of the Rhaetian Railway ( Bernina line between St. Moritz and Tirano ) on the Poschiavo side of the Bernina Pass .
The line between Ospizio Bernina and Poschiavo , where the train station designed as a crossing station is located, was opened on June 5, 1910 by the Bernina Railway Company .

Avalanche accidents
On the night of the avalanche on February 28, 1937, an accident occurred below Alp Grüm, in which railway employees were caught in an avalanche while fleeing from a stuck train . Three railway workers were killed.
On January 3, 1951, an avalanche tore a track plow and a railcar into the depths directly at the Alp Grüm station , killing the railway foreman . The railcar could only be recovered in spring.
