Alphonse Georger (born May 25, 1936 in Sarreguemines , Moselle department , France ) is Bishop Emeritus of Oran .

Life

Alphonse Georger was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Algiers on June 29, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Oran on July 10, 1998. The Archbishop of Rouen , Joseph Duval , ordained him episcopal on August 9 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Henri Teissier , Archbishop of Algiers, and Pierre Raffin OP , Bishop of Metz .

On December 1, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
