Alram I. (Ortenburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alram I († before 1399 ) was the eldest son of Count Heinrich IV and Agnes von Hals . It comes from the Lower Bavarian imperial count house of the Ortenburgers . Due to the division of property with his brothers, he named himself Count zu Dorfbach.

Live and act

Through his three marriages Alram came to great possessions and fortunes. In this way he contributed to the fact that the Ortenburg house slowly rose again, which was severely weakened by large inheritance divisions and disputes. By marrying the rich widow Barbara von Rottau, Alram received the former Ortenburg fiefs back to Dorfbach . His father Heinrich IV had given this to Friedrich von Rottau as a fief. With the marriage and the resignation of Frederick's closest relatives in 1381 and 1385, these possessions finally fell to him. Since then he has called himself Graf zu Ortenburg, sat at Dorfbach . When the inheritance was divided after his father's death in 1395, he renounced other goods and only claimed the Dorfbach possessions for himself. He is therefore considered to be the founder of the short-lived sideline of Ortenburg-Dorfbach .

In the years 1393 and 1394 Alram I appeared as a caretaker at Bruckberg . At the end of the year he also entered the service of the Bavarian Duke as Judge zu Griesbach .

Alram died before 1399 and inherited his property to his son Alram II.
