Martin Strobel (born June 5, 1986 in Rottweil ) is a former German handball player who last played for the Bundesliga club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten .
Career
society
Martin Strobel started playing handball at SV Hausen. The backcourt player came to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten via JSG Balingen-Weilstetten. From 2008 to 2013 he played for TBV Lemgo. For the 2013/14 season he returned to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten. He ended his career in summer 2020.
National team
He made his international debut for the German national team on April 5, 2007 against Portugal . Previously he was also active for the junior national team, with which he won the European Championship in 2006. He was named the tournament's best back center player.
At the Junior World Championships in Macedonia in 2007 he was runner-up with the German team. As in the European Junior Championship, he was chosen as the best back center player of the tournament in the All-Star Team with his team-mate Uwe Gensheimer , best left winger.
At the 2009 World Handball Championship in Croatia , he placed fifth with the German national handball team. At the 2016 European Championship in Poland , he was European champion with the German team with a 24:17 victory over Spain . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won the bronze medal with the German national team. For this he was awarded the silver bay leaf on November 1, 2016 .
At the 2019 World Cup, Martin Strobel seriously injured his knee in the main round match against Croatia without the influence of an opponent and was out for the rest of the tournament.
For the EM 2020 he canceled due to an injury.

Others
