Johann Ferdinand Huschberg

Johann Ferdinand Huschberg (born March 12, 1792 in Düsseldorf , † August 20, 1852 in Würzburg ) was a German archivist , historian and playwright .

Johann Ferdinand Huschberg was born as the son of the Jülich-Bergischer Hofbaumeister and later Bavarian civil servant and building director Kaspar Huschberger . In 1806 his family moved from Düsseldorf to Munich. In 1810, Huschberg graduated from high school in Munich with distinction. He then studied law and history at the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen . Two years later he received his doctorate. phil. From 1813 to 1815 Huschberg took part in the Wars of Liberation as a lieutenant in the 4th Infantry Regiment , and later as a first lieutenant . In 1819 he became an accessist and worked, among other things, in the Bavarian Reich Archives . Ten years later he became secretary and second assistant there . At that time he worked on an extensive presentation of the family of the Counts of Ortenburg . From 1830 to 1834 he was honorary professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In the meantime he worked on an extensive work on the early history of the Wittelsbach family . A year later, in recognition of his historical works, he was made an extraordinary member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 1839 he became director of the Würzburg district archive . Because of his services he was given the rank of royal. Government Council raised.

Huschberg's estate is now at the Bibliotheca Albertina in Leipzig . The estate once came to the historian and Leipzig professor Heinrich Wuttke , who published some parts of it. In March 1884, Wuttke's widow gave the estate to the Bibliotheca Albertina.
