Als Sogn is a parish (Danish sogn ) and administratively a former municipality in the Provostei Hadsund in Aalborg Abbey in Denmark . The municipality is now part of the Mariagerfjord municipality in the North Jutland region . Until the municipal reform in 2007 , Als Sogn belonged to the Hadsund municipality in what was then the North Jutland department. Before that, the parish belonged to the district (Danish: Herred ) Hindsted until the municipal reform in 1970 .

The parish Als Sogn is named after its central location Als on the Kattegat coast and should not be confused with the island of Alsen (Danish: Als ) in North Schleswig .

The population in 2020 was 1445, which is almost halving within a decade ( 2010 : 2581 inhabitants). The average age of residents in the municipality in 2020 was 49 years (all of Denmark: 41.8 years).

Most of the parish, which is bordered by the Kattegat to the east and by the Mariagerfjord to the south , is located on a raised seabed from the late glacial period . In the low-lying areas, the soil alternates between gravel and sand . Former undersea elevations such as the area on which the village of Als is located primarily consist of loamy soil.
