Districts
Hadsund Centrum
Hadsund Centrum is grouped around Hadsund Church , the center of the whole city, and Storegade , the main shopping street to the west of the city center. In the center, which is also the oldest part of the city, in addition to the Storegade pedestrian zone, two other major streets are important: Alsvej and Himmerlandsgade . In addition to the pedestrian zone, the shopping streets in the city center also include Vestergade (West Street), Østergade (East Street), Nørregade (North Street), Mejerigade (Meiereistraße), Jernbanegade (Railway Street ) and Brogade (Bridge Street). The city has four different squares: the Torvet market square , a trading center from the time the city was founded, is part of the pedestrian zone. The business center Butikcenteret , a covered arcade on two floors, is located in the buildings of the old jam factory Johan & Axel Hornbech from 1898. The third place is the midpoint from the 1970s: an open space with a central parking and business area. The fourth square, Bankpladsen , is one of the old paved squares and is named after the Hadsund Bank .
The Storegade is one of the oldest streets Hadsunds and comes from 1800. Until the 1970s, was the main connection road between Hobro and Aalborg until the Himmerlandsgade was replaced. The Storegade was not paved until the 1950s, and later it was paved. After the inauguration of Storegade as a pedestrian zone in 1990, the asphalt and pavement were torn up and a modern promenade was created with new paving stones. At the northern end of the pedestrian zone is the Hadsund Butikcenteret shopping center , which is spread over two floors, connected by an escalator , and includes 17 shops and two supermarkets.
Søndergårde
Søndergårde is located in the north of Hadsund and was an independent urban area until around 1970, when it merged with Hadsund after an industrial and residential area was built. The district consists of 446 parcels with 96 terraced houses, eleven wooden houses and 304 single-family houses.
Hadsund Huse
Hadsund Huse is located in the north-western part of the city on secondary route 507 and consists of 275 parcels with 74 terraced houses, eight three-story apartment blocks and 93 single-family houses. The settlement was built around 1855 from four houses that were located west of the then road to Aalborg. The ending -huse indicates a small farm.
Hadsund Syd
Founded around 1880, Hadsund Syd (Hadsund South), originally Sønder Hadsund , is located immediately south of the Hadsundbroen and has around 500 inhabitants. Hadsund Syd Station and the Færgekroen jug from 1823 are located in the village. The nucleus of the urban area is at the ferry station on Mariager Fjord. Due to the over 200 meter distance to Hadsund Centrum - the Hadsundbroen is 252 m long - Danmarks Statistics regards Hadsund Syd as an independent urban area.
climate
As in other parts of Denmark, spring is relatively dry and sunny, temperatures between 5 ° C and 10 ° C are typical, but night frosts as well as temperatures that often reach up to 15 ° C are possible. In the rainy autumn it cools down to 6 ° C to 12 ° C, with a sunny late summer sometimes in September and snowfall in November. Average temperatures in winter are between 2 ° C above and 3 ° C below freezing point, and it rarely gets colder than −10 ° C. The precipitation alternates between rain, sleet and snow.
Naming, history
The origin of the name Hadsund cannot be determined with certainty. It is likely that the village of Haderup at the southern end of the fjord, around half a kilometer from Hadsund Syd, gave its name to the narrow sound near the city, and that Haderup Sund was shortened to Hadsund . The first farms in the area were first mentioned as Sundhusene around 1700. This designation is lost in the 1850s, and the farms and the settlement in the south were henceforth circumscribed as Hadsund Husene .
The place name Hadsund was originally the name of the narrow sound and was later used for the settlements that arose on the north and south banks. Hadsund was first mentioned in a document on September 3, 1467 in a script of the Things in Hindsted Herred , at that time still spelled as Haddeswnth , later Hadswnd (1478), Hadsvnd (1487), Hatzsund (1581) and Hatsund (1700).
Hadsund received market rights in 1854, but never achieved the status of a Danish købstad ( minor town ).
In terms of literature, the writer Hans Kirk, who was born in Hadsund, has set a monument to the city. a. in his collection of short stories Skyggespil (1953, Eng . "Shadow Play ", 1979).

coat of arms
The coat of arms of Hadsund was drawn by Lind Madsen and was officially awarded to the city in 1937. In the middle is the old railway bridge, the two steel arches of which symbolically represent the two former municipalities. The four waves symbolize the four villages that were part of what was then Hadsund Municipality, namely Skelund , Visborg , Vive and Hadsund. The crescent moon symbolizes the new municipality and the two stars, which stand for longevity, the old bridge from 1904 and the new Hadsundbroen from 1976.
