history

Surname

The street was named after the municipality (now part of the city) Altenwalde . Chaussee (French chaussée ) is also the outdated name for a well-developed country road.

development

The Chaussee Bremerhaven – Ritzebüttel was built between 1850 and 1855. This road was an old connection from Ritzebüttel to the south and on to Franzenburg . In 1842 (from Altenwalde) and until 1855 (from Ritzebüttel) the street was paved.

After Ritzebüttel and Alt-Cuxhaven were united in 1872, the local area was expanded to a greater extent. Long-distance traffic led to Landstrasse, from 1934 on Reichsstrasse 6 (R 6) and after 1949 on Bundesstrasse 6 . Around 1960 the road was completely renewed and partially expanded to four lanes. In 1974, with the construction of the federal motorway 27 , the Cuxhaven section was rededicated to the federal highway 73 and was now also a feeder road to the A 27, connection no. 2 Altenwalde.

In terms of traffic, the road is opened up by the KVG bus lines 1020, 1021 and 1024 from the train station / ZOB.
