location

The Althausschneide is a rock ridge on the Italian-Austrian border and is the continuation of the southwest ridge of the Dreiherrnspitze . The long ridge extends from the eastern Rosshuf ( 3171  m above sea level ) in the southwest over the Leipziger Schartl ( 3096  m above sea level ). , the Althausschneidespitze ( 3226  m above sea level ) and the Althausschneideturm to the Althausschneidescharte ( 3221  m above sea level ) in the northeast. The course of the ridge also represents the border between the East Tyrolean community of Prägraten am Großvenediger and the South Tyrolean community of Prettau . The Althauskees extends southeast of the Althausschneidespitze, the Lahnerkees to the northwest. The closest valleys are the Umbaltal in the south, the Windtal in the southwest and the Ahrntal in the northwest. The mountain flanks on the East Tyrolean side are part of the Hohe Tauern National Park , the South Tyrolean parts of the mountain in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park are protected .

Promotion opportunities

The normal route to the rarely visited Althausschneideturm leads from the Kleinen-Philipp-Reuter-Hütte (or the Clarahütte a little further away ) via the Umbaltörl, the Schlaiter Keesflecken and the Althauskees to the Althausschneidescharte. On the Northeast edge ( III-IV ) leads to below the peak whose ascent the difficulty V has.
