History and traffic
Alvhem developed after the opening of the Lödöse - Lilla Edets Järnväg railway line at the junction with Bergslagsbanan in 1906. Alvhem has been a crime scene since 1975.
For a long time, just over 200 people lived in the town, before it quickly increased after the resumption of passenger traffic in 2012 - when the population was surveyed in 2015, 322 inhabitants were counted. The new stop located between Alvhem and the neighboring town of Lödöse is called Lödöse södra .
Alvhem is also directly on the Europaväg 45 trunk road , which serves as the Swedish part of the European route 45 , which extends from Norway to Sicily .
