History and traffic
For a long time Skepplanda was an agricultural village. The medieval local church was massively rebuilt around 1700. In the 1970s, the place was massively expanded when part of the agricultural land was rededicated to residential areas. As a result, the place grew significantly, the population increased from 632 in the 1970 census to 1941 in the survey ten years later. In the meantime, Skepplanda has merged with the neighboring Småort Kattleberg och Grönnäs on the local border .
Skepplanda is close to the Europaväg 45 trunk road , which serves as the Swedish part of the 45 European route from Norway to Sicily . In the neighboring town of Älvängen , less than 5 kilometers away, the Alependeln line has been one of the terminus of Gothenburg's suburban train system Pendeltåg since the launch of the Alependeln line in 2012 .
