Alwin Hanschmidt

Alwin Hanschmidt (born August 7, 1937 in Rietberg ; † January 16, 2020 in Vechta ) was a German historian .

Life

Alwin Hanschmidt attended the high school Nepomucenum Rietberg and graduated from the Ratsgymnasium Rheda-Wiedenbrück . At the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg he studied history, German, Catholic theology, philosophy and education and passed both state exams for teaching at grammar schools. In 1967 he was awarded a Dr. phil. doctorate and was a research assistant at the history department of the University of Münster.

From 1975 to 2004 he taught as a professor for history and didactics at the University of Osnabrück , Department / Location Vechta (from 1995 Vechta University, since 2010 Vechta University ). He was the representative of the presidium for the university archive .

Hansschmidt wrote three books on Rietberg and the County of Rietberg as well as over 100 essays and studies on the local and regional history of Rietberg.

He died on January 16, 2020 at the age of 82.
