Heinrich Alwin Münchmeyer (born March 19, 1908 in Hamburg ; † September 24, 1990 ibid) was a German entrepreneur , owner of the company " Münchmeyer & Co. ", President of the German Industry and Trade Congress (1958–1962) and the Federation of German Banks (1968–1975) and holder of numerous other honorary positions in German business.

Alwin Münchmeyer came from an old Lower Saxony, from 1816 Hamburg family of merchants and bankers . He was the son of the entrepreneur and banker Hermann Rudolf Münchmeyer (1875–1950) and Elisabeth Waitz (1885 – after 1962). In order to distinguish him from his grandfather Alwin Münchmeyer , the name Alwin Münchmeyer the Younger has become naturalized.

Alwin Münchmeyer graduated from the Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hamburg at Easter 1926 . Münchmeyer continued the family tradition with his training as a businessman.

He married on August 18, 1934 in Hamburg Gertrud Nolte (born November 9, 1914 in Hamburg; † June 6, 2007), the daughter of the Hamburg lawyer Hans Nolte (1884-1940) and Elisabeth Siemsen (1890-1927). The Münchmeyer couple had four daughters, including their daughter Birgit Breuel , and their son Hans Hermann Münchmeyer , a private banker and management consultant.

In 1937, Alwin Münchmeyer took over his father's commercial and private banking company " Münchmeyer & Co. " in Hamburg. After more than 120 years of company history, Alwin Münchmeyer d. Münchmeyer was also a member of the Trilateral Commission .

From 1959 to 1966 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .

Münchmeyer is buried in the Hamburg cemetery in Ohlsdorf .
