Alwin Renker

Alwin Renker (born September 17, 1931 in Hemsbach (Bergstrasse), † December 6, 2013 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German theologian , Old Testament scholar , high school teacher, military chaplain and Catholic priest .

Live and act

After studying theology with a doctorate at the University of Freiburg , Renker was ordained a priest in 1958 by Hermann Schäufele in the Freiburg Minster . He then took up vicariates in Mannheim, Bad Dürrheim and Philippsburg and became a cooperator at the Münster parish in Freiburg. After several years as a religion teacher at the Berthold-Gymnasium and Kepler-Gymnasium in Freiburg, he was entrusted in 1982 by Archbishop Oskar Saier with the management of the Institute for Religious Education Freiburg and appointed professor. In 1997 he retired. For many years Renker was a member of Baden-Württemberg's central planning commission for religious instruction , military chaplain in Bremgarten , clerical council of the Catholic German Women's Association , priest of the parishes of Adelhauser Church and Offnadingen .
