Amadeus Nestler

Amadeus Julius Nestler (born July 14, 1870 in Naundorf , † August 24, 1964 in Leipzig ) was a German pianist and music teacher .

Life

The son of August Julius Nestler attended the Royal High School in Leipzig from 1880 to 1890 , which he left with the school leaving certificate. He then trained as a concert pianist at the Leipzig Conservatory as a student of Carl Reinecke and Salomon Jadassohn . As a result of nervous overexertion, he temporarily studied law at the University of Leipzig , but turned back to music in 1896, renouncing the virtuoso career. Initially he was a répétiteur at the Leipzig City Theater and from 1897 to 1898 he was Kapellmeister at the Lübeck City Theater. From 1898 to 1909 he appeared as a concert accompanist. In 1909 he was finally appointed to teach piano at the Leipzig Conservatory.

Since 1904 he was married to Hanna Hirt. The marriage was the daughter of Erika (* May 25, 1911). Like his father, he was a member of the Apollo Masonic Lodge in Leipzig .
