August Julius Nestler

August Julius Nestler (born December 3, 1849 in Grumbach ; † August 24, 1919 in Leipzig ) was a German composer , conductor , choir director and music teacher .

Life

The son of the landowner Julius Nestler attended the private seminar of the cantor Karl Friedrich Klinger at his home town from 1864 to 1870 . He composed songs , cantatas , motets for solos, mixed choir and orchestra, sonatas and fugues for organ, songs for male choirs and military marches.

August Julius Nestler was married to Laura Frieda Häßler (1851–1918). The marriage had four children, including the pianist and teacher at the Leipzig Conservatory Amadeus Nestler . In Leipzig was a member of the Masonic Lodge Apollo , to which his son also belonged.
