Amar Garibović (born September 7, 1991 in Sjenica ; † September 7, 2010 in Sredanci , Croatia ) was a Serbian cross-country skier and biathlete .

Career

Garibović contested his first cross-country skiing FIS race in Mavrovo in February 2004 , which he finished in 15th place over 15 km freestyle. He mainly started in the Balkan Cup . The sixth place over 5 km freestyle and over 10 km freestyle in January 2010 in Mavrovo was his best cup placement. In February 2009 he took 64th place over 10 km freestyle and 51st place in sprint at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2009 in Szczyrk . In the same month he came in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec on the 109th place in the sprint. He celebrated the only victory of his career in March 2009 at an FIS race in Igman / Sarajevo over 10 km freestyle. The following year he took part in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver , where he ran over 15 kilometers in free style to 80th place.

In biathlon Garibović started at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2008 in Ruhpolding and achieved 97th place in individual over 12.5 km and 95th place in sprint over 7.5 km. He died in a traffic accident in Croatia on the day of his 19th birthday.
