Ambatofinandrahana is a city in Madagascar with around 27,000 inhabitants (as of 2005). It is the capital of the district of the same name .

geography

Ambatofinandrahana is located at about 1400 m altitude in the Amoron'i Mania region , in the Fianarantsoa province in the southern central highlands of Madagascar. 20 km west of Ambatofinandrahana is the Itremo massif .

Economy and Infrastructure

63% of the population live from agriculture, mainly growing rice, maize and cassava . 35% live from animal husbandry and 2% work in the service sector. The region is also rich in minerals . So far there have been around 70 registered finds (as of 2013). So could the Itremo massif among other quartz in different training variants , different apatite , beryl and tourmaline , which the mica belonging muscovite or its green variety Fuchsite and the very rare berlinite be found. The minerals are mined by locals from the region.

traffic

The Route nationale 35 runs through the city. In an easterly direction to Ivato near Ambositra . From there you can get to Route nationale 7 . In a westerly direction the road leads to Morondava .
