Amber Joseph (born December 15, 1999 in Bridgetown ) is a British - Barbadian cyclist who competes on road and track .

Athletic career

Amber Joseph came to triathlon through swimming until she realized that she enjoyed cycling. She then had contact with the multiple Pan American champion and runner-up on the track, Barry Forde , and began targeted cycling training, initially focusing on the short-term disciplines on the track. In 2013 she moved to England and received a scholarship from the Sherfield School in Sherfield on Loddon ( Hampshire ), UK .

In 2016, Joseph finished sixth in the women's sprint at the British Track Championships. She then switched to the endurance field, competed in the Pan American Championships for her native Barbados in the same year and won the silver medal in the Omnium . The following year she again took silver in the Omnium and gold in the points race . At the Caribbean Road Championships, she won the road race and came second in the individual time trial .

Joseph has been riding in the elite since 2018. She started at the Commonwealth Games , finished 15th in the points race and 16th in the Omnium. At the UCI Track World Championships 2019 in Pruszków , Poland , she was seventh in the scratch.

Honors

In 2017 Amber Joseph was named Female Cyclist of the Year from Barbados.
