Barry Ricardo Forde (born September 17, 1976 in St. James , Barbados ) is a former Barbadian track cyclist .
Athletic career
Barry Forde comes from a cycling enthusiast family. At the age of ten he started to ride BMX races. In this discipline he was Barbadian and Caribbean master in 1992. At the same time he started on the track to drive. Two gold medals in the sprint and Keirin at the so-called "B" track world championships in 1996 were his first major successes. In addition, Forde was several times Barbadian champion in the sprint. 2001 Forde was first in the sprint at the Pan American Championships in Medellín . At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo 2003, he succeeded again.
Barry Forde took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and finished sixth in the sprint . In 2005 Forde was runner-up in the Keirin world championship at the World Railroad Championships in Los Angeles , after having finished third in this discipline at the World Championships in Stuttgart in 2003. At the Pan American Championships in Mar del Plata in the same year , he won the keirin as well as the sprint.
Barry Forde, who had the No. 1 license of his domestic cycling association, trained temporarily in Berlin with Emanuel Raasch . His father is Colin Forde , who competed in the singles pursuit and the road race at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City . From 2010 onwards, Barry Forde trained primarily in Australia with Gary Neiwand .
doping
In October 2005, Forde tested positive for testosterone, banned for two years and stripped of his two victories at the Pan American Games. He had already tested positive for the banned substance ephedrine during an inspection during the Panama Games in 2003.
After new doping allegations were brought against Forde in September 2010, he announced his retirement from active competitive cycling in March 2011. He was banned for life by the UCI , the world cycling association .

Forde is married to a German-born Korean who he met at Cologne Central Station while waiting for a train there. (As of 2015)
