Central American and Caribbean Games 1998

The 18th Central American and Caribbean Games took place from August 8-22, 1998 in the Venezuelan city ​​of Maracaibo .

Cuba's athletes won 191 gold medals in a total of 379 competitions. Mexico took second place in the medal table with 60 gold medals, ahead of Venezuela with 56 gold medals.

Participating Nations

32 countries took part in the Central America and Caribbean Games with a total of 4115 athletes. Dominica made its debut.

The Central America and Caribbean Games featured 30 sports. Fell from the program handball , canoeing , water jumping and competitions in roller skating . New were Triathlon and Rhythmic Gymnastics included in the program. The rowing competitions were held in Guatemala .
