Ameis is a place and a cadastral municipality of the market town of Staatz in Lower Austria.
The village between Staatz and Kleinhadersdorf extends along Poysdorfer Straße in an east-west direction and from a road that branches off in the center of the village to the south. The historical importance of the place can be seen in the parish church Ameis , consecrated to St. Nicholas , with a massive defense tower from the 12th century. The outer wall of the apse is adorned with a small relief with figural scenes from the Bible. In the cellar lane system to the south-east of the village, 86 buildings stand side by side over a distance of around one kilometer.
