American Cuisine (Original title: Cuisine américaine ) is a French comedy film from 1998.
action
Loren Collins grew up as a child in a large kitchen where his father worked as a cook. He admires the French chef Louis Boyer and wants to become a celebrity chef himself. Although he is allowed to cook in the army, he is fired because he has different menu options than his superiors.
Collins travels to Dijon, France, where he gets a temporary job. There he learns from Louis Boyer and falls in love with his daughter Gabrielle.

The lexicon of international films judged that "[t] rotz the possibility of mixing sumptuous, comical and erotic ingredients into a charming comedy film" was "just an uninspired comedy". "To blame" is "a book that presses the actors into a tight type corset, a predictable dramaturgy without surprises as well as an unfocused direction and actors, between whom sparks rarely sparkle."
Prisma found that the film had "some lengths", but was "a funny story between type comedy, romance and culinary art". Eddy Mitchell knows “how to convince as an eccentric chef”.
According to Filmspiegel.de, "Freshness [...] distinguishes this film". “The actors can also inspire”, it continues to be said. "The great merit of American Cusine " is that "despite his funny mood he takes the characters seriously and conveys their problems without boring the viewer."
