The Amici di Imperia is an association based in Baden-Württemberg's Lake Constance district , which was founded by citizens in 2009 and was supported by Mayor of Friedrichshafen , Josef Büchelmeier . The aim was the wish of the municipal council to establish a twinning relationship with a city in Italy in addition to Friedrichshafen's existing twinning arrangements with Saint-Dié-des-Vosges , Sarajevo , Polotsk , Delitzsch and Peoria .

Culture and travel
The association has been going to the port city on the Italian Riviera for oil and wine tastings since 2014 . Music associations, choirs, motorcycle clubs and cultural associations have toured their partnership since then. In 2016, the former councilor Bernd Ammann from Ailingen toured the twin town of Imperia with a Vespa Ape as part of an Alpine tour.

Competition and records
- First bike ride: Michael Sackmann was the first cyclist to reach Imperia on October 5, 2015 as part of a 10-week holiday bike tour.
- First non-stop ride: In 3 attempts in July 2015, August 2015 and June 2017, the cycling club Freundeskreis Uphill attempted to reach the 612 km distance between Friedrichshafen and Imperia 'non-stop'. However, they failed after 403 km (07/2015), 520 km (08/2015) and 510 km (06/2017). On July 15, 2017, the chairman of the Freundeskreis Uphill Roland Hecht set the first record and drove the 612 km distance between Friedrichshafen and Imperia non-stop
- Fastest cycling club: On August 5, 2017, the Freundeskreis Uphill set the record for being the first and at the same time the fastest of the 6 cycling clubs in Friedrichshafen to have ridden to Imperia in just 2 stages of 315 km each. On September 8, 2017, Mayor Andreas Brand congratulated the racing cyclists on their record
