Aminu Bashir Wali

Aminu Bashir Wali (born August 3, 1941 in Kano ) is a Nigerian diplomat and politician . From 2014 to 2015 he was Nigeria's Foreign Minister.

Life

Aminu Bashir Wali graduated from North Western Polytechnic in London in 1967 with a degree in business administration (later absorbed by the London Metropolitan University ) .

From 2004 he was Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations , then Nigeria's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China .

In 2014 he became Secretary of State in the government of Goodluck Jonathan . Foreign trips took him to Turkey in January 2015 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu . In October 2014, Wali received the Foreign Ministers of Germany and France, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Laurent Fabius , to talk about measures to be taken against the Ebola fever epidemic that broke out in some states to the west of Nigeria after Ebola cases had also occurred in Nigeria .

After the presidential election at the end of March 2015, in which the opposition candidate Muhammadu Buhari was elected as the new president, Geoffrey Onyeama was appointed foreign minister in November 2015 .
