Amir Moradi ( Persian امیر مرادی; * April 10, 1990 in Tehran ) is an Iranian middle-distance runner .

Athletic career

Amir Moradi gained his first experience in international championships at the 2007 Youth World Championships in Ostrava , where he reached the semi-finals over 800 meters. In 2008 he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha and then won the silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in Jakarta . In 2009 he finished fourth over 800 meters at the Indoor Asian Games in Hanoi and had to end his advance over 1500 meters early. In the outdoor season he qualified for the Asian Championships in Guangzhou , where he finished sixth over 800 meters. In 2010 Moradi could not finish his final run over 800 meters at the Asian Games in Guangzhou and was disqualified with the Iranian 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run. In 2011 he took part in the World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated there in 1: 51.66 minutes in the semi-finals.

At the Asian Championships in 2013 in Pune , he reached fifth place over 800 meters and had to end his preliminary run early again over 1500 meters. In 2017 he finished sixth over 800 meters at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar . At the beginning of September he won the bronze medal over 800 meters at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat . In 2018 he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where he finished fourth over 800 meters and surprisingly won the gold medal over 1500 meters. At the end of August he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta, where he won the silver medal behind Indian Jinson Johnson in 3: 45.62 minutes . He was also fourth over 800 meters. The following year he reached sixth place over 1500 meters at the Asian Championships in 3: 44.75 minutes and could not finish his 800 meter run.

In 2018 Moradi became Iranian champion in the 800-meter run . His older brother Sajjad Moradi is also a former athlete.
