Abubaker Ali Kamal

Abubaker Ali Kamal (born November 8, 1983 ) is a Qatari obstacle , medium and long distance runner .

At the Asian Athletics Championships in 2000, he won silver over 1500 m .

Over 3000 m obstacle he won bronze at the Asian Championships in 2002 and silver at the Asian Games in Busan . In 2005 he won the 1500 m Asian Championships.

On August 28, 2006, he set the current Asian record of 7: 06.66 minutes in the 4 x 800 meter relay in Brussels with Majed Saeed Sultan , Salem Amer Al-Badri and Abdulrahman Suleiman .

In 2007 he won bronze at the Asian Championships in the 800 m and 1500 m. At the World Athletics Championships in Osaka , he was eleventh over 3000 m obstacle.

In 2008 he won bronze over 1500 m at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships and was eliminated in the preliminary stages of the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Valencia . At the Olympic Games in Beijing he was eighth in the 3000 m obstacle.

In the following year, a bronze medal over 300 m obstacle followed at the Asian Championships 2009, a twelfth place at the World Championships in Berlin . In 2010 he won over 1500 m at the Asian Indoor Championships, but again did not get past the first round at the Indoor World Championships in Doha .

In 2011 he won over 3000 m obstacle at the Asian Championships and was eliminated from the World Championships in Daegu in the preliminary stages. At the Pan-Arab Games , he crossed the finish line first over 3000 m obstacles and 5000 m , but was tested positive for erythropoietin and was disqualified.

After a two-year ban for this violation of the doping regulations , he won silver over 3000 m at the Asian Indoor Championships . At the IAAF World Relays in Nassau , he came in seventh place in the 4 x 1,500 meter relay with Mohamad Al-Garni , Hashim Salah Mohamed and Maaz Abdelrahman Shagag . The Qatari quartet set the current Asian record with 15: 10.77 minutes. Over 3000 m obstacle he was third in the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech and won the Asian Games in Incheon .
