Hossein Keyhani ( Persian حسین کیهانی; * April 26, 1990 ) is an Iranian middle distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Hossein Keyhani gained his first experience in international championships at the Asian Indoor Championships 2010 in Tehran , where he finished sixth over 3000 meters. In 2011 he was seventh in the 3000 meter obstacle course at the Asian Championships in Kobe . In 2014 Keyhani took fourth place over 1500 meters at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou , as well as with the Iranian 4 by 400 meter relay. In 2015 he was fourth in the obstacle course at the Asian Championships in Wuhan . At the Indoor Asian Championships in Doha in 2016 , he finished seventh over 1500 and 3000 meters. In 2017 he won the gold medal in the obstacle course at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in 8: 43.82 min and thus received a bye for the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated in the preliminary round with a new national record of 8: 33.76 min . At the beginning of September he won the bronze medal over 3000 meters at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 8: 07.09 min behind the Indian Govindan Lakshmanan and Tariq Ahmed al-Amri from Saudi Arabia.

In 2018 he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran, where he won the gold medal over 3000 meters in 8: 37.68 minutes. At the end of August he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and won there with a new game and national record of 8: 22.79 minutes in the obstacle course and was fourth over 5000 meters with a new personal best. The following year he finished fourth in the obstacle course at the Asian Championships in Doha in 8: 36.44 min and finished eighth in the 5000 meter run with a new personal best of 13: 56.86 min.

After a doping test positive for Epo , which was carried out on April 21, 2019 as part of the Asian Championships , it was banned on June 21, 2019 after a temporary suspension by the Integrity Commission of the World Federation (AIU) for four years from May 21, 2019. In addition, his two competition results at the Asian Championships - a fourth place in the 3000-meter obstacle course and an eighth place over the 5000-meter distance - were canceled.

In 2012 and 2018 he became Iranian champion in the obstacle course.
