Tariq Ahmed al-Amri ( Arabic طارق أحمد العمري, DMG Ṭāriq Aḥmad al-ʿAmrī ; * December 23, 1990 in Riyadh ) is a Saudi long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Tariq Ahmed al-Amri gained his first international experience at the Summer Universiade 2011 in Shenzhen , where he finished eighth in the 5000 meter run in 14: 11.06 min . In 2014 he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon for the first time and finished eighth over 5000 and 10,000 meters. The following year he was fourth at the Military World Games in Mungyeon, South Korea, in 13: 34.89 minutes. In 2016 he finished ninth in the 1,500-meter run at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha and qualified over 5,000 meters for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 14: 26.90 minutes in the lead . The following year he came tenth at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku . He then won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in 14: 56.83 minutes behind the Indian Govindan Lakshmanan and the Katari Yaser Salem Bagharab . At the beginning of September he won the silver medal in the 3000 meter run at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 8: 03.98 min .

In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he won the bronze medal in 13: 56.9 minutes behind the two Bahraini players Birhanu Balew and Albert Kibichii Rop . The following year he qualified over 5000 meters for the World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated with 14: 21.19 minutes in the lead . He then retired at the World Military Games in Wuhan with 14: 55.13 min, also in the preliminary round.
