Yaser Salem Bagharab (born January 1, 1998 ) is a Qatari medium and long distance runner of Yemeni origin who also competes in the obstacle course. He has been eligible to start for Qatar since 2017.

Athletic career

Yaser Salem Bagharab gained his first experience in international championships at the Junior Asian Championships 2014 in Taipei , where he won the bronze medal over 10,000 meters with 32: 22.42 minutes. In 2015 he also won bronze in the 3000 meter run at the Asian Youth Championships in Doha and was 78th in the U20 category at the World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang . In 2017 he took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , where he won silver medals in the obstacle course and over 5000 meters. At the beginning of September he finished fifth at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with 8: 07.67 min over 3000 meters and was fourth in the obstacle course at the Arab Championships in Radès . In 2018 he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where he won the silver medal in the 1500 meter run behind Irani Amir Moradi in 3.53.92 minutes and only Hossein Keyhani , also from Iran, was beaten over 3000 meters . At the Asian Games in the Indonesian capital Jakarta at the end of August , Bagharab won the silver medal in the obstacle course behind Iranian Hossein Keyhani with a new personal best of 8: 28.21 minutes and came fifth in the 5000 meter run .

In 2019 he took part in the Asian Championships in Doha and finished fifth in the obstacle course in 8: 45.80 minutes and seventh place over 5000 meters in 13: 56.30 minutes. In the obstacle course, he also qualified for the World Championships there in October, where he was eliminated with 8: 39.65 minutes in the lead .
