The rampage in Leutershausen was a rampage with two dead on the morning of July 10, 2015 in Tiefenthal and Rammersdorf , two districts of the city of Leutershausen in the Bavarian district of Ansbach .

Sequence of events

According to the police, the offender , who comes from Ansbach and has no criminal record, is said to have shot out of the car, a silver Mercedes convertible, from 10:02 a.m. The murder weapon, a large-caliber pistol , was legally in his possession, but he was not authorized to use the weapon in public. First an 82-year-old woman was killed in Tiefenthal and a few minutes later a 72-year-old cyclist in Rammersdorf. At 10:20 a.m., the perpetrator shot a car driver in Winden (City of Leutershausen), who then fled unharmed. At about 10:25 a.m., the perpetrator shot at a house wall in Hinterholz (city of Leutershausen). At around 10:30 a.m., the perpetrator threatened two passers-by in Binzwangen (Colmberg market), but they were not injured. At 10:45 a.m. he shot a farmer in Hainklingen (Flachslanden market), who was not hit directly, but was slightly injured by the effects of fragments. He also threatened a construction worker in Rappenau (Markt Obernzenn) around 11:30 a.m.

The perpetrator entered a gas station in Bad Windsheim about 30 kilometers from the crime scene at around 11:45 a.m. He was disarmed and overwhelmed by the staff, who had already been made aware of the public search broadcast on the radio and were also threatened with weapons. A second weapon, a heavy revolver with a high man-stopping effect , and around 100 rounds of ammunition for both weapons were found in the vehicle . He was then arrested and appeared to be mentally weak.

A first psychiatric assessment of the perpetrator certified an "acute psychosis with a bizarre delusional system". A placement order was issued and the perpetrator was sent to the closed ward of the Ansbach District Hospital instead of in custody.

Background of the fact

The perpetrator was 47 years old at the time of the offense and does not name any motive. According to his own statements, he used to work as a nurse and geriatric nurse and had been unemployed for a few months. There were no connections between the perpetrator and the victims. : On Saturday, July 11, 2015, the prosecution Ansbach shared the following with "According to the current state of knowledge are urgent reasons to believe exists that the criminal responsibility of the accused was at least considerably reduced time of the crime." His public defender also on 17 July 2015 made Insanity valid. A final diagnosis can therefore only be expected after a long-term assessment in two to three months.

On July 20, 2015, the analysis of the perpetrator's blood and urine samples became known. According to this, Bernd G. was “acutely under the influence of cannabis products” at the time of the crime, but this obviously did not negatively affect his ability to safely handle weapons and the vehicle. During the search of his home, 18 cannabis plants were found and seized and his membership in a Celtic-Druid denomination was established. Although he was personally unknown to its members, he also practiced rather unusual rites at home, which were supposed to protect him from access by demons and werewolves .

A psychiatric report submitted in October 2015 certifies that the perpetrator was paranoid schizophrenia and was insane at the time of the crime.

process

On February 29, 2016, the trial of the offender, who was considered to be incapacitated, began at the Ansbach district court with the reading of the indictment and a statement from the defense. On April 12, 2016, the court sentenced him to permanent accommodation in the forensic unit .
