In 1970 the office was created in its last form from the former offices of Gelting and Buckhagen-Oehe and the communities of Stoltebüll and Stangheck. On January 1, 2008, the municipality of the offices of Gelting and Steinbergkirche formed the office of Geltinger Bucht .
