history

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Werneuchen office with its seat in Werneuchen was formed as part of the formation of offices in the state of Brandenburg. The Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg approved the formation of the Werneuchen office on July 13, 1992. July 31, 1992 was set as the date on which the office was established. The office initially consisted of nine communities in the former districts of Bernau and Bad Freienwalde:

  1. Hirschfelde
  2. Krummensee
  3. Löhme
  4. Seefeld
  5. Weesow
  6. Willmersdorf
  7. Schönfeld
  8. Deep lake
  9. Werneuchen , city

At the end of 1992 the office had 6,150 inhabitants. On December 31, 1998, the municipality of Löhme was incorporated into the municipality of Seefeld. As of December 31, 2001, the community Weesow was incorporated into the city of Werneuchen. At the end of 2002 the Werneuchen office still had 7 municipalities belonging to the office. On October 26, 2003, the communities of Hirschfelde, Krummensee, Schönfeld, Seefeld, Tiefensee and Willmersdorf were incorporated into the city of Werneuchen. The Werneuchen office was dissolved, and the city of Werneuchen is now vacant. Four of the municipalities (including Tiefensee) sued the state constitutional court of Brandenburg without success against this decision. All places of the former Werneuchen office are now districts of the city of Werneuchen.
