Geldern is the seat of the Geldern District Court , which is responsible for the cities of Geldern, Kevelaer and Straelen as well as the communities of Issum , Kerken , Rheurdt , Wachtendonk and Weeze in the southwestern part of the Kleve district. Around 128,000 people live in the 542 km² judicial district .

The district court superordinate to the district court of Geldern is the district court of Kleve , which in turn is subordinate to the higher regional court of Düsseldorf .
