The Schwerin District Court is a court of the ordinary jurisdiction of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the district of the Schwerin District Court .

    The judicial district comprised the following cities and municipalities until the judicial structural reform came into force on October 6, 2014.

    On October 6, 2014, the following municipalities from the district of the Ludwigslust District Court were incorporated into the district of the Schwerin District Court.

    • Stralendorf,
    • Sülstorf,
    • Uelitz,
    • Warsow,
    • Wittenförden and
    • Zulow

    So that the original was about 640  km 2 large jurisdiction by the Court of structural reform at about 820 km 2 enlarged. About 135,000 people live in it.

    The Schwerin District Court is responsible for agricultural matters , economic criminal matters , insolvency proceedings and the management of trade, cooperative and partnership registers for the entire district of the Schwerin Regional Court .

    From November 5, 2005 to June 6, 2009, the Schwerin District Court was responsible for proceedings in commercial matters within the meaning of Section 95 of the Courts Constitution Act for the entire district of the Schwerin District Court .

    The court is located together with the regional court in a building at Demmlerplatz 1-2 . The listed building was inaugurated in 1916.

    Superior courts

    The Schwerin Regional Court is superordinate to the Schwerin District Court. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court in Rostock .
