The district court of Hagenow was a court of ordinary jurisdiction , most recently of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , in the district of the district court of Schwerin . It was repealed on March 16, 2015 as part of the judicial reform.

    The judicial district included the area of ​​the following cities and towns.

    In 2014, around 57,000 people lived in the 1170  km 2 judicial district.

    When the court was repealed, all cities and municipalities were incorporated into the district of the Ludwigslust district court, 30 km away . The Minister of Justice Uta-Maria Kuder paid tribute to the court on this occasion with the words: "Small district courts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania such as the Hagenow district court will soon be unable to guarantee the people in the region that there will be uninterrupted administration of justice."

    The court was housed in two service buildings at Möllner Strasse 51a and Augustenstrasse 8 .

    Superior courts

    The District Court of Schwerin was superordinate to the District Court of Hagenow . The competent higher regional court was the higher regional court in Rostock .
