The Wolgast District Court was a court of the ordinary jurisdiction of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the district of the Stralsund Regional Court . It was repealed on August 31, 2015 as part of the judicial structure reform.

    In 2014, there were around 40,000 inhabitants in the approximately 323  km 2 judicial district.

    When the court was repealed, all cities and municipalities were incorporated into the district of the Greifswald District Court .

    In civil and criminal matters, the Wolgast District Court was locally responsible for the entire district of the Rostock Higher Regional Court and thus for the whole of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the community-free coastal waters upstream of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Responsibility for such proceedings has been with the Greifswald District Court since August 31, 2015.

    The court was housed in two service buildings. The two buildings are located in Breiten Straße 6c and Breiten Straße 21 in downtown Wolgast.

    The state government's response to a small inquiry in October 2019 provides information about the further use since the court was closed at the end of August 2015, including the financial aspects.

    The former district court house 1 (Breite Str. 21) is a clinker brick building with a stepped gable from the early days. House 2 - diagonally opposite - is a plastered building with elaborate ornamentation in Art Nouveau style. Both buildings are under monument protection.

    Superior courts

    The District Court of Stralsund was superordinate to the Wolgast District Court. The competent higher regional court was the higher regional court in Rostock.
